Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.

The Team:

Oracle Hardware Development (OHD) is comprised of a variety of teams working within multiple hardware areas:
  • OHD Power Engineering is responsible for defining, developing and qualifying state of the art power products for use in Oracle's Engineered Systems and Public Cloud products. These responsibilities include the definition, specification and design of PSUs, PDUs and other power products, and the qualification of those products. OHD's Power Group typically partners with industry leading suppliers in the development of these innovative products.
  • OHD Power Validation is comprised of electrical engineers who are responsible for developing and executing board and system level validation test plans to ensure that new Oracle server products meet or exceed design specifications and product qualification requirements. The VRD / power validation engineer is responsible for the test and analysis of power circuitry and components that comprise the power sub-system of Oracle's industry leading cloud server and vertically coordinated Engineered systems.
  • OHD Validation defines, designs, and integrates the next generation of Oracle's Cloud servers and systems using advanced high-speed test equipment and post-processing analysis applications to qualify Oracle's latest leading-edge server designs. Systems are crafted in-house using the next generation of merchant silicon with the most advanced interfaces and market leading capabilities. This group qualifies the hardware platforms upon which Oracle builds its Cloud and high-end vertically coordinated Engineered Systems.
  • OHD Diagnostics Engineering is responsible for developing, validating and supporting diagnostic-test tools, for all of Oracle system platforms. These tools are used across Oracle in Engineering, Manufacturing and Cloud teams for platform hardware validation. These tools run on top of Linux operating system and provide innovative methodologies to exercise all system components such as Memory, Processor, Storage, Networking, Power, Interconnects, GPU and other accelerators, etc.

What You'll Do:

We have many Hardware Engineer Intern opportunities available and you could work within Power Engineering, Validation, Diagnostic Engineering, or others, and your responsibilities could include:
  • Develop and test next-generation power solutions
  • Support root cause and corrective action analysis relating to manufacturing and field faults
  • Drive regulatory requirements to release power products
  • Testing power rail measurements, including voltage level, noise and ripple, over-voltage/ current testing and transient load performance.
  • Conduct power integrity simulations using software tools such as PSpice, Simplis and Cadence PowerSI
  • Review schematics, power and discrete component specifications
  • Participate in design reviews and generation of test plans for board level power circuits, point of load converters and DC-DC converter designs.
  • Evaluate and modify electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems.
  • Design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods.
What You'll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):

To be considered for a Hardware Engineer Intern position, you must possess the Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs) below. Please ensure that your application clearly indicates that you meet these OMQs, either on your resume and/or by uploading additional documents such as a transcript.
  • Enrolled in at least a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field and expected graduation date of December 2023 or later.
  • Have no more than one year of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience).
  • Have academic coursework, projects, internship and/or research experience with one or more of the following tools:
  • Synopsis tools, Cadence tools, SImplis, SPICE, Xilinx, EDA tools, LabVIEW, Oscilloscope, CAD/PCB tools
  • Are proficient (e.g., can complete coding projects without any assistance) in one or more of the following programming languages:
  • C/C++, Assembly language, Shell scripting, Perl, Python
  • Have academic coursework, projects, internship and/or research experience in three or more of the following technical areas:
  • Computer Architecture, VLSI, Digital/Analog Circuits, Microelectronics Circuits, Microprocessor Design, Embedded Systems, Power Systems, Parallel and Distributed Architecture, Memory System, Multithreaded/Multi-Core Programming, Operating Systems, Signals and Systems, x86 Architecture, or equivalent to the above.
  • Have academic coursework, projects, internship and/or research experience with Linux and Windows OS.
  • Have completed at least one internship, research assistantship, teaching assistantship, or formal project in one of the technical areas listed above.
  • Reside in the United States and/or attend a university in the US.
  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2023.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated location(s)

California Pay Range: from $21.15 to $41.15 per hour; from $44,000 to $85,600 per annum.

Colorado Pay Range: from $19.95 to $37.07 per hour; from $41,500 to $77,100 per annum.

New York City Pay Range: from $19.95 to $39.13 per hour; from $41,500 to $81,400 per annum.

Washington Pay Range: from $22.31 to $39.13 per hour; from $46,400 to $81,400 per annum.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
